The tranquility of Ourika Valley is an ideal getaway from the bustling of nearby Marrakech. The valley is home to some of Morocco’s most breathtaking landscape and is only a short drive from the capital.

There are mountains and verdant farms on each side of the valley where the Ourika River runs. There are waterfalls, old-fashioned towns, and lots of hiking and horseback riding options along the way.

Along the way, you’ll stop to see the Berber house, the village of Ouelmes with its adobe houses and Kasbahs, and the river of Ourika valley, and once you reach settifatma, you’ll be able to see the seven waterfalls that give the valley its name.

After a sort of country breakfast (bread, butter, honey, olive oil, and tea) is prepared for us by the lady of the house, we travel deeper into the valley and stop for a 20-minute camel ride. After the camel raid, we drive to the end of the road, get out, and hike for two hours to a series of waterfalls (cascades).

Afterwards, we get back in the van, continue driving for another hour and a half, and have lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Ourika valley. The lunch menu features an array of traditional Moroccan dishes. We hit the road and headed back to Marrakesh by 17:00.
